7 Day Trip in Romania and Bulgaria starting from Bucharest

Day 1

We will fist head to Targoviste city, the former capital of Wallachia region. Here we will visit the old Princely Court, where Vlad the Impaler ruled from. Here we can learn more about his life from the exhibition housed in the Chindia Tower.

You will visit the former royal residence at Targoviste where Vlad Tepes ruled and the military unit in Targoviste where the former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was judged and executed in 1989. Depart from Targoviste for the drive to the regions of Prahova Valley and Brasov.

Now we enter the mountain region to discover a valley that was deeply loved by the romanian royal family convincing them to settled a beautiful summer residence in Sinaia. Here we will visit the marvelous Peles Castle and the enchanting Sinaia Monastery, and admire the fairy-tale Pelisor Castle

Day 2

After breakfast, depart for a day of sightseeing.

Next we will visit the saxon city Brasov. This is the perfect example of saxon medieval settlement in Transylvania and it is one of the 7 famous saxon cities that gave the name of this region. We will see here the old town, the defensive fortifications and the heart of the city, the Black Church.

Sighisoara is the last still inhabited medieval citadel in east Europe. Here we visit the medieval citadel with it’s clock tower, famous Dracula House and the Church on the hill.

In the second part of the day we will settle in Visci village, one of the most beautiful and authentic villages on our Transylvania Tour. Here we will discover the life and culture of local people,  taste their foods, work with them and enjoy life with them!

In the evening you will return to Brasov for overnight

 

Day 3

On we go to the most famous castle in Transylvania, the Dracula Castle in Bran village. Here we will be fascinated by the history, legends and local beliefs!

Right next to Bran, the marvelous citdel of Rasnov stands. We are going to enter here as well and enjoy the view from the top of the hill.

Day 4

Today we will visit the capital city. In Bucharest we will see: Arc de Triumph, Revolution Square with all important buildings, Victoria Street, old Town, Union Square, University Square and we enter the Patriarhat Church and Village Museum.

After the visit we head towards the great Danube Delta. It is a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. When we arrive you will embark on a journey by boat along one of Danube’s canals.

Day 5

In the morning we travel towards Constanta city. This is a formal greek settlement and one of the oldest and most important harbors by the Black Sea. Here  we will enjoy a guided walking tour in the city center, during which we will see: the Casino, the Petru and Pavel church, Romania’s biggest mosque, and Ovidiu Market with the most important musums in the city: the roman mosaic, the ruins of the ancient city of Tomis and the archaeology  museum helding the treasure of this city. Constanta is a highlight on our Day Trip to Constanta from Bucharest.

After that we continue our tour towards Bulgaria’s town Balchik.  The greatest landmark of Balchik – the Palace – has remained from the period of the Romanian occupation and it is the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria Alexandrina Victoria Of Edinburgh. In a glass jar in a chapel rested her heart as her last wish before she died.

Day 6

Today we visit Veliko Tarnovo, one of the most amazing cities of this country is located. Veliko Tarnovo is located on the banks of Yantra River, also known as the City of Tsars, Veliko boasts an impressive fortress with the ruins of the former Tsarevets Palace and the patriarchal church, today with modern and intriguing paintings.

Arbanassi is a few kilometers away from Veliko, on the plateau of a slightly higher hill. Due to the migration of the Turks, Greeks and Albanians, there has been created a diverse population that left an inheritance of an original culture. Buildings of the sec. XVII-XVIII attract visitors to this picturesque place: houses, streets, fountains, churches and monasteries with unique icons and murals.

Day 7

Sofia preserves many valuable monuments to its long and storied past like remnants of The Eastern Gate from the days when Sofia was Serdika and Sredets, dating from the 2nd-4th centuries CE, The Saint Sofia Basilica and many more.

At noon we take the road back to Bucharest.
