Discover the romanian capital and the biggest city in country, with a history of over 600 years of both glorious but also less happy times.

Although the communist era did not press over the city a very long time ( about 40 years), it definitely left deep marks in the history of this place and in the souls and minds of the people living here.

This trip follows the most remarkable tourist attractions and cultural heritage in the center of the city. Together we will learn about Bucharest’s communist architecture and history, about the influence communism had over us, about notorious Ceausescu and his wife and everything they have done to the city during their ruling.

Tour starts in the morning by your hotel and includes the following itinerary:

– Free Press House and Free Press Square

Ceausescu Private Villa in Primaverii district

– Revolution Square

– The Memorial of Rebirth

– Statue of Iuliu Maniu and Cornelui Coposu

– The Former Communist Party Central Committee

– University Square,  Intercontinental Hotel and National Theatre

– Dambovita River and Manuc’s Inn

– Unirii Square and Unirii Shopping Building

– Boulevard of Socialist Victory

– Unirii Fountains

– Constitution square

– Palace of Parliament

Enstrance by Parliamnet Palace and Ceausesc Private Villa are optional, but we strongly recommend you visit both since they are both symbols of the communist era in Bucharest.

The tour ends with drop-off by your hotel.

A lesson in in Romania’s past
We did Communist tour during our time in Bucharest and it was brilliant. The highlight was visiting the imposing Palace of the Parliament, a relic from Ceaucescu’s tumultuous reign. It really gave us an understanding of why Bucharest is as it is today. Other highlights included Revolution square. Our guide was wonderful, attentive and entertaining. Highly recommend this tour!

We took a communism tour that included the visit to the Palace of Parliament with Authentic Romania. Everything was perfectly organised, we learned a lot about Romania’s communist past, and saw all the main communist-era highlights all over Bucharest.
Alina took us to the Senate side of Parliament, where we were the only little group visiting at that time. It was such an amazing experience to be there and hear all the incredible facts about this grand building.
Would have never been able to see and learn so much without this tour.

This tour is a crash course in the history of Communism in Romania! The highlight of the tour is the Palace of the Parliament. To say this building is impressive is an understatement; there are over 1,000 rooms and a yearly utility bill of 8-12 million EU. The building also holds world records for the largest chandelier and carpet! While the interior is beyond words, the history being presented by a guide who experienced Communism is priceless. I recommend this tour, remember to bring your passport for entry.

I thoroughly enjoyed the bus tour I did, which had a stop at the parliament building. It was highly informative and interesting and I would recommend it to learn more about the history that influenced Romania’s past and present society!
