Following “Wednesday” in Romania!

Discover the amazing places where the Netflix’s hit show “Wednesday” was filmed! From the stunning Cantacuzino Castle (Nevermore Academy) to the beautiful Romanian lakes ( The annual competition between the four main Nevermore factions was filmed on two of the country’s lakes – Brănești and Sterbei) and all the way to the capital city Bucharest, where The Botanical Gardens, Politehnica University and Casa Monteoru are among the places featured. The Politehnica University is where the school from episode 1, where Wednesday is fired, has been shot. The Botanical Gardens are the greenhouse from Nevermore Academy, while Casa Monteoru is where the interiors of Nevermore Academy are shot.

The majority of Netflix’s Wednesday was filmed in Romania!

  •  Stunning Cantacuzino Castle, the place where the outside of the Nevermore Academy was filmed
  •  Monteoru Palace, the place where the insides of the Nevermore Academy was filmed
  •  Niculescu-Dorobanțu House, its ornate staircase and stained-glass windows feature in the interiors of Nevermore Academy
  •  Conacul Olga Greceanu, the abandoned house of Garret Gates

This tour starts at 8.00 am with private pick-up from your hotel or apartment in Bucharest. First thing in the morning we will journey towards 2 beautiful palaces in Bucharest, where many movie scenes were filmed.

Step 1 – Monteoru Palace

Monteoru House was built in 1874. It is located on Victory Avenue (Calea Victoriei), one of the main arteries of downtown Bucharest. It is classified as a historical monument of national interest. Between 1949 and 2013 it was the headquarters of the Union of Writers of Romania (Uniunea Scriitorilor din Romania). That year, by court order, the building was returned to the heirs of the family who owned it before it was nationalized.

Step 2 – Niculescu-Dorobanțu House

The imposing building bears the allure of a Gothic cathedral, with exquisite constructive and decorative elements: the exposed brick façade, in several shades of red, the towers’ silhouettes, the entrance portal, the imposing windows, with carved stone elements in Neo-gothic fashion, the cornices, gargoyles, stained glass windows and pointed arches that mark the exterior and interior.

Step 3 – Sinaia Rail Station

Netflix used the Gara Regala, a train station in the city of Sinaia, Romania, to shoot the shots set near Nevermore school. Located in the Bucegi Mountains, Sinaia is a picturesque village, once home to the family of King Mihai I.

Step 4 – Cantacuzino Castle

Much of the Gothic-style school’s exteriors belong to the Cantacuzino Castle located in the Romanian mountain town of Bușteni. The neo-Romanian palace in the Carpathian Mountains was the summer home of über-wealthy aristocrat and politician Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, who died there just two years after the house was completed in 1911.

Step 5 – Conacul Olga Greceanu

In episode 6 of Wednesday, viewers get to see the disturbing house where Garrett Gates once lived. But really, it is just a stately old home, classified as a historical monument in Romania, which is located in Dâmbovița, a county north of Bucharest.

We will be back in Bucharest in the evening, around 20:00 p.m.
