This tour starts at 8.00 am with private pick-up from your hotel or apartment in Bucharest. First thing in the morning we will journey towards 2 beautiful palaces in Bucharest, where many movie scenes were filmed.
Monteoru House was built in 1874. It is located on Victory Avenue (Calea Victoriei), one of the main arteries of downtown Bucharest. It is classified as a historical monument of national interest. Between 1949 and 2013 it was the headquarters of the Union of Writers of Romania (Uniunea Scriitorilor din Romania). That year, by court order, the building was returned to the heirs of the family who owned it before it was nationalized.
The imposing building bears the allure of a Gothic cathedral, with exquisite constructive and decorative elements: the exposed brick façade, in several shades of red, the towers’ silhouettes, the entrance portal, the imposing windows, with carved stone elements in Neo-gothic fashion, the cornices, gargoyles, stained glass windows and pointed arches that mark the exterior and interior.

Much of the Gothic-style school’s exteriors belong to the Cantacuzino Castle located in the Romanian mountain town of Bușteni. The neo-Romanian palace in the Carpathian Mountains was the summer home of über-wealthy aristocrat and politician Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, who died there just two years after the house was completed in 1911.
In episode 6 of Wednesday, viewers get to see the disturbing house where Garrett Gates once lived. But really, it is just a stately old home, classified as a historical monument in Romania, which is located in Dâmbovița, a county north of Bucharest.
We will be back in Bucharest in the evening, around 20:00 p.m.
