Day 1. Transfăgărășan Road
At 8:00 a.m. we will start our journey towards the Fagaras Mountains. Those are some of the most massive and beautiful mountains in Romania. They are also named the Transylvanian Alps.
Moment 1 – Curtea de Arges monastery
Our first stop will be in the town named Curtea de Arges, at the bottom of the Fagaras Mountains. Here we will visit one of the most remarkable monasteries in Romania.
Now we continue our tour to the northern regions of Arges Country and step into the marvelous landscape of the mountains.
Moment 2 – Poenari Citadel
Here we make a new stop at the foot of the Poenari Citadel, a stronghold that became famous thanks to Dracula’s Legend. We will visit the stronghold.
Moment 3 – Transfagarasan road
After this, we enter Romania’s most beautiful road! the Transfagarasan was named by Top Gear “the best road in the world” and it is the second-highest road in Romania. The road reaches his highest point of 2034 m at the Balea Lake, after passing through Romania’s longest road tunnel, the Capra Tunnel. Here we will have a break to enjoy the beauty of this place.
Next we keep going towards Transylvania, and emerge on the other side of the Fagararas Mountains, in Sibiu city. Here accommodation follows in the city.
Day 2. Transalpina Road
In the morning after breakfast we will enjoy a nice walking tour through Sibiu old town.
Moment 1 – Sibiu city
We will arrive in Sibiu city and discover here the history and architecture of this beautiful medieval place.
Moment 2 – Transalpina
Then we start our journey towards Romania’s highest road: the Transalpina! This road is also called the King’s Road because it was constructed by one of Romania’s kings in 1938: King Carol II. The road offers amazing views and breathtaking sights literally above the clouds!
After this wonderful trip, we will head back to Bucharest city. The tour ends with private drop-off by your hotel
