Day 3.  Histria + Tulcea city ( 260 km)

Today is dedicated to discovering the most interesting sights around the Delta.

In the morning we will head towards Romania’s oldest city – an ancient settlement raised here by the greeks in the 7th century before Christ. Only the remains of the once magnificent city are today to be seen, and many of the objects belonging to the ancient inhabitants are today in the Histria museum placed next to the ruins of the city.

After learning about Dobrogea History, it is time to know more about the delta that brought us here.

In Tulcea we will visit the Danube Delta Museum – one of Romania’s most moderns museums – showing the evolution in time of our delta, birds and animals living here, population, history, and a magnificent acvarium gathering together the most important fish species from our delta, including the fascinating sturgeon, a symbol of the Danube Delta.

Apart from the Delta Museum, Tulcea city has much more to offer. We will enjoy some free time in the city to discover the beautiful promenade and much more.

In the evening, return in Murighiol for accommodation.

Day 4.  Optional boat trip to Sf. Gheorghe Village – the wild beach ( 35 euros/pers)

If you choose this trip, you will travel with us along the Sf Gheorghe arm, admiring the nature on both sides of the arm, until we reach Sf Gheorghe Village. Sf Gheorghe is a small fishermen village, with about 1000 inhabitants, living mainly from fishing and a bit of tourism. The village is placed on a sandy terrain, consisting from sediments brought by the river Danube throughout time.
